Sydney College of English, Australia is one of the most established private English language schools in Sydney. Founded in 1987 with highly qualified, professional English teachers, Sydney College of English, Australia is today only one of three IALC accredited schools in Australia and the first accredited by NEAS. We are also a founding member of English Australia. Sydney College of English, Australia is conveniently located close to the centre of Sydney city as well as numerous nearby universities including University of Sydney and University of Technology, Sydney. Our General English classes focus on language and culture with an emphasis on the core skills of speaking, writing, reading and listening. We also teach English for Academic Purposes (EAP), IELTS Preparation and Cambridge FCE, CAE and CPE courses that act as entry pathways to leading Australian universities, high schools, TAFE and many other institutions. We also offer high quality Business English, TOEIC Preparation and English for Health Professionals courses. We have recently added Evening courses with both General English and IELTS Preparation classes for the students who are working and studying. Homestay
We do our best to make you feel safe and welcome from the moment you arrive in Australia, and to provide you with opportunities to use English as much as possible. One way of achieving this is by your choosing to live with an Australian family during your time in Sydney. This will help you meet some wonderful people and get a better understanding of the Australian way of life.
Our Student Services Officer chooses and inspects each "homestay" family very carefully. Before a family can join the programme, they must guarantee that they will provide a high standard of accommodation and facilities, and they must be friendly and willing to look after you. SCE visits each home. When a student leaves they are asked to fill in a questionnaire about their stay so we can make sure our standards are maintained. Homestay is a wonderful way of making new friends - the families we choose genuinely enjoy having overseas students and often keep in touch with them after they have moved on.
