  New Intensive Courses in EnglishAbout the
Intnsive English education program at University of Hawaii Mano was founded almost 30 years ago, and it is one of the most renowned university ESL programs in the United States. The program specifically focuses on helping students to be capable of having fluent oral communications. The University boasts strong faculty body, and there are members who are still very active in the research fields and many professional organizations and boards. There are two different programs available for students taking ESL program: ELI, and HELP. Help focuses on Academic English preparation, whereas ELI mainly focuses on teaching general English to students who are non-native English speakers. Students have remarked “I have developed not only a base of knowledge but practical skills and experience.” Students can always pursue higher level of education whenever they are successfully accomplished one program due to the ESL departments broad course offerings.

University of Hawaii at Manoa is the main campus of the University of Hawaii public education system. Among the 10 universities included in the system, Manoa campus has the oldest and most renowned ESL programs. Students have diverse backgrounds, and come to the university to not only study but also to research and experience different culture. University itself has been ranked as one of the best colleges in the United States, and has been ranked in the top 30 public universities (research) for engineering, and science. There are two intensive English education programs called ELI and HELP. HELP is more appropriate for students who intend to pursue their studies in the United States after graduation. Both programs have been accredited by multiple colleges in the past.
