Why This School?
- Students who take Intensive English Program can concurrently enroll in ISU courses with American students.
- The rural environment of Indiana State University allows students to experience the traditiona American culture and to focus on their studyings.

Conditional Admission
Some students have strong academic backgrounds and training but have not had enough preparation in English, as measured by the TOEFL test.  These students are given conditional admission to ISU.  They attend INTERLINK to improve their English.  When they complete INTERLINK's English program, they are fully admitted to ISU.  No TOEFL score is required in this instance.

INTERLINK Language Centers at Indiana State University (ISU) has been helping students achieve their goals since 1987. Located in Terre Haute, Indiana, INTERLINK at ISU provides quality English training, cultural orientation and academic preparation. Most of our students go on to ISU after meeting their needs at INTERLINK, but others who do not plan to attend ISU choose INTERLINK at ISU for their ESL training. The ISU and INTERLINK partnership creates an environment that prepares students for challenging careers, and provides the tools and skills needed to achieve success in the modern world. Here are some of the skills that INTERLINK helps students improve the ability to speak English more fluently, to write effective essays, to understand spoken English, to understand different cultural perspectives and more, to conduct research and report findings in English, to engage in group work and team activities, and to use the Internet and other computer technology. Overlooking the rolling hills and farmlands of central Indiana, historic Terre Haute offers the friendliness and safety of a small town with the attractions of a midwestern city. With a population of 60,000, Terre Haute boasts scenic parks, theater, a symphony orchestra and a 10,000 seat university center that offers off-Broadway productions and famous musicians. At Indiana State University, students can get the best of both world in academic and new cultural experiences.

The Princeton Review has named Indiana State as one of the "Best in the Midwest" seven years running, and the College of Education's Graduate Program was recently named as a 'Top 100' by U.S. News & World Report while the graduate program in nursing was recognized as among the "Top 75' in the nation by U.S. News. The magazine currently classifies Indiana State University as a tier 2 national university. The current Carnegie classification for ISU is Doctoral/Research University. Indiana State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. ISU is also included in Carnegie's new Curricular Engagement and Outreach & Partnerships category that recognizes substantial commitments to both an academic approach to mutually beneficial and respectful community collaboration and extensive outreach and partnerships. Indiana State offers 100+ majors, notably education, business, criminology, finance, insurance and risk management, nursing, athletic training, and construction technology; the university's graduate education, financial services, nursing and clinical psychology programs are nationally recognized. Indiana State is a diverse university, with 3.8% of students attending as international students and 19.5% of students belonging to a minority. Indiana State is the first public university in Indiana to require incoming freshmen to have a laptop. ISU offers Dell Latitude E6420 laptops to incoming freshmen with high high school GPAs of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) as part of its Laptop Initiative. ISU is a member of the College Consortium of Western Indiana. This membership allows students who are full-time at their home institution to take classes at the other member institutions of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
