The American Language and Culture Institute (ALCI) is the English language program at California State University San Marcos. We offer many programs for international students and travelers. Instructors in our Intensive Academic Preparation program have Master's Degrees and several years of teaching experience. San Marcos, located in Northern San Diego County, is only miles from the hustle and bustle of major cities such as San Diego and Los Angeles, but nestled in a quiet, suburban neighborhood. Students can get the best of both worlds in academic and culturally diverse learning environment, inside and outside of class.

California State University San Marcos is a public comprehensive university in San Marcos, California, United States, and one of the 23 campuses of the California State University system. San Marcos is a suburban town in the North County area of San Diego County. It was founded in 1989 as the 20th CSU campus. The first class was admitted in 1990.CSU San Marcos offers 62 different Bachelor's degrees, 15 master's degrees, an Ed.D. program, and 13teaching credentials. The university has four colleges: the College of Business Administration; the College of Science and Mathematics; the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences; and the College of Education, Health and Human Services.

Conditional Admission to CSUSM is also available to qualified graduate and undergraduate students.
The IAP is a year-round program. Classes begin in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. To enter this program, students must be at least 18 years old or a high-school graduate, and have basic English skills.

Campus Housing University Village Apartments and the new Quad at San Marcos are modern apartments designed exclusively for students attending California State University San Marcos. Please apply early. Campus Housing fills up many months before each semester. Choose from the 2 options below for campus housing:University Village Apartments: offers 9 and 12 month lease.The Quad: only offers 12 month lease. If students choose to live in The Quad, students must pay for the summer months, even if travelling.Off-campus ApartmentsThe San Marcos, Carlsbad, Escondido, Oceanside, and Vista communities near CSU San Marcos offer many reasonably priced apartments.
