Founded in 1979, the University of Delaware English Language Institute (ELI) offers the highest-quality intensive English programs for degree-seeking students, business and legal professionals, English language teachers, and general English language learners. Its accreditation member CEA was founded in 1999 by English Language Professionals as a specialized accrediting agency. ELI faculty members, as a either master's or doctorate in applied linguistics, apply their method of English teaching taught abroad to students in a more interesting and proficient ways. The University of Delaware, which traces its history back to 1743, is a nationally and internationally recognized research institution of higher learning. The University of Delaware’s educational mission is to prepare students to live in an increasingly interconnected and diverse world. UD is located in Newark, Delaware, a quiet, safe and friendly college town of 30,000 people. Students can enjoy life outside of class at nearby recreational areas on the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania with a variety of summer and winter activities.
