Students from all over the world with different nationality and cultural background have chosen ELS program to study English in a new Environment. Conditional Admission

Cancellation Policy
*If you withdraw after completing at least 50% of your booked course, you will not be
eligible for a refund.
If canceled within 28 days, $300 is retained for each 4-week session canceled less than 28 days in advance.
*If you enter the U.S.A. on a student visa sponsored by ELS and cancel your booked course or do not report for class, ELS will retain the first four weeks of tuition as a non-refundable fee if you have a booked course of four or eight weeks. If you have a booked course of 12 weeks or more, ELS will retain the first six weeks of tuition as a non-refundable fee.
*The application fee toward a new course for up to 12 months after your initially
scheduled start-date when you cancel your initial program.
*When you cancel your program, you will lose discounted tuition. But if you complete level 109 or 112 student will be fully refunded.
Housing Cancellation
If a student wishes to cancel or defer, we kindly ask that they notify us as soon as possible.
- If the student notifies ELS at least 14 days prior to arrival, the housing reservation fee will be refunded in full.
- If the student notifies ELS fewer than 14 days prior to arrival, the reservation fee is non-refundable.

Description: Outside Manhattan homestays are located in trendy neighborhoods of Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. Hosts will provide continental breakfast and other meals can be purchased in local delicatessens and restaurants. 작년 1월 1일에 미국에 왔는데 벌써 1년이 훌쩍 지나갔네요.
정말 정신없이 시간을 보낸것 같습니다. 그 동안 겪은 일을 책으로 엮으면 다섯권 분량은 나올 것 같아요.
솔직히 말씀드리면 처음 6개월은 ELS를 다니다 경비 줄인다고 조금 싼 어학원으로 옮겼습니다.
그런데 싼게 비지떡이라고..선생이라는 사람들이 ELS 6개월 다닌 저보다 영어를 못하는 경우가
있더군요. 미국사람인데 어떻게 영어를 못하냐구요? 늦은 나이에 미국와서 노동허가 받은 히스패닉 선생님들이 가르쳐서 그래요. 수업 듣다가 이게 스페니쉬 클래스인지 잉글리쉬 클래스인지..
그나마 미국에서 태어난 오리지날 미국인 선생은 밤마다 약을 하는지 발음도 희안하고 말도 더듬고..
수업도 교실에서 영화 한 편 틀어놓고 자기는 뒤에서 낮잠이나 쿨쿨 잡니다.
이런 어학원들..가격 낮추려고 이 선생 저 선생 검증도 안하고 데려오는게 눈에 보여요.
이런 작태들을 보면 ELS..학비가 타 학원보다 조금 비싼감은 있지만 나름 납득은 됩니다.
수업의 질이 뉴욕 내 학원에서 최상 중에 최상급이에요. 정말 6개월밖에 안다녔는데 미국인들
틈바구니에서 일상생활하는데 전혀 문제 없어요. 게다가 학생 대부분이 열심히 하려는 분위기라
학업 분위기도 좋구요. 싼 어학원은..학생 태반이 비자유지하려고 폼으로만 다니는거라 절대절대
공부안됩니다. 수업 시작 아침부터 핸드폰으로 시작해서 끝날때까지 핸드폰 손에 붙들고 있어도
선생이란 작자는 터치 안하는게 값싼 싸구려 어학원의 현실입니다. 정말이지..지식의 폭과 견문을 넓히려고 사랑하는 조국을 떠나 바다 건너 미국으로 오시는 분들은.. 한푼 두푼에 자기 인생과 시간을 낭비하는 길을 택하지 마시길 바랍니다. 유학비가 여러분이 피땀 흘려 번 돈이든 부모님께서 자식 위해 밤낮으로 일해 마련한 돈이든 그 피같은 돈 부디 뜻있고 의미있는곳에 사용해서 여러분의 미래에 필요한 무언가를 남기길 바랍니다. 여긴 벌써 자정이네요. 오랜만에 들렀다가 두서없이 글쓰고 갑니다. 다들 새해복 많이받으세요.
9월 16일 미국 뉴욕에 와서 수업들 참여한지 3달째인 학생입니다. 처음 뉴욕에 도착했을 때는 타지 생활이처음이기도 하고, 말도 통하지 않아서 적응하는데 시간이 꽤 오래 걸렸습니다. 타지 생활에 언어도 통하지않아서 처음에는 생활하는데 조금 불편했습니다. 음식점도 많이 몰랐고, 교통수단 이용 방법도 잘 알지 못했습니다. 초반에는 ELS 센터에 이러한 생활적인 도움을 많이 받았습니다. 선생님들께서 너무 친절하셔서 수업 외에 생활에 문제가 생기면 적극적으로 물어봐주시고 상담을 해 주셨습니다. 그리고 ELS 수업의 질이 굉장히 높습니다. 체계적으로 수업을 구성하였고, 선생님들이 학생의 눈높이에 맞춰서 수업을 해 주십니다. 매일매일 수업 준비를 철저히 해 주시고, 질문도 너무 잘 받아주십니다. 제가 영어를 정말 못해서 빠르게 이야기를 하지 못하는데 모든 선생님께서 제가 말하는 것을 다 기다려 주십니다. 학교 환경과 분위기 정말 좋습니다. 뉴욕 맨해튼에서 공부를 해서 그런지 수준 높은 학생들도 많고, 선생님들도 정말 좋습니다. 수업 분위기는 우리나라처럼 선생님이 혼자 말씀하시고 우리가 받아 적는 그런 주입식수업이 아닌, 선생님과 학생들이 서로 토론하는 토론식 수업을 많이 하고 있습니다. 덕분에 영어 울렁증도 없어졌고 스피킹도 많이 늘었습니다. 학교의 수업 외 활동같은 경우, 매 달 첫 수업을 시작하는 날 달력을 나누어 줍니다. 거의 모든 요일에 학교 수업 외 활동이 있습니다. 함께 영화관 가서 영화를 관람하는것이나, 브로드웨이에 가서 공연을 보는 등 흥미로운 활동들이 많고 가격이 혼자 가는 것에 비해서 많이 저렴합니다.
뉴욕 생활하는 데 있어서 살인적인 물가라고 많이 들어서 겁을 먹었었는데, 제가 음식을 집에서 해먹고 관광비용 정도만 사용하면 생각보다 돈을 많이 들이지 않고 생활할 수 있었습니다.
