With over 45 years experience as an international language provider, teaching German as a foreign language has always had an important focus in the work of Carl Duisberg Centren. The German Language Courses are offered in Berlin, Cologne, Munich and Radolfzell on Lake Constance. At the Carl Duisberg Training Centers students will be taught by experienced trainers, who all have a university degree. In lessons great emphasis is put on training communication skills. The learning progress is measured according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Prior to the start of the course students' actual language ability will be assessed by a placement test. On course completion they will receive an official certificate of attendance. At various stages of the course program, students can have their improvement documented by taking the internationally recognized telc examinations. Naturally, at the four Carl Duisberg Training Centers, a media resource center with a multitude of teaching materials is available. This also includes computer learning programs for self study. Students will receive all books and materials used in the lessons free of charge which can then be kept at the end of the course. Additionally, there are no extra costs for registration, placement test and weekly interim tests. For those who decide to learn a foreign language in the country where it is spoken, they will also get to know the culture, customs and ways of its inhabitants. The same applies to the language course in Germany.
Placement in a Private Boarding School (Internat)
Carl Duisberg Centren organize placements at renowned boarding schools, where you study and live under the same roof. Your parents make a targeted investment in the allround supervision of a private school, where the individuality of each student is fostered and one's own potential and strengths are discovered.
By attending our selected private schools for several years students are able to
1. Acquire linguistic and intercultural competence
2. Take the Abitur (internationally recognized school leaving examination)
3. Gain the right to direct admission to university in Germany
4. Develop and strengthen their personality
5. Lay the foundations for future networks
For attendance at a boarding school the students must take an admission test, which usually tests their knowledge of German as well as their knowledge of other subjects (e.g. Mathematics and English). If the student's German is not sufficient for successful attendance at school (minimum CEF-Level B2), then you can join the "Fit for School" preparatory course at the Carl Duisberg Training Center in Radolfzell on Lake Constance.

Preparation of German Testing for Hopeful University Students
In order to enroll into German universities, students must sufficiently prepare their German language abilities.
These abilities are assessed by two tests
DSH(German language test for international students enrolling into German University) tests are taken at the University before the start of the semester.
TestDaF DSH tests can be taken all over the world at various language learning facilities and institutions. These tests are available to be taken 6 times per year.
Carl Duisberg Center offers the TestDaF test.
German universities require one of these tests as one of its prerequisites to apply, and also require you take a separate German entrance exam. The Carl Duisberg Centrum provides the best lectures (Intensive Lecture Plus) in preparation for these exams. Through these lectures, students will be able to become accustomed to other types of tests as well that are required by the universities.
DSH
The DSH is the German language test provided by the Universities themselves, which are then taken by international students.Through our guidance and enrollment service “ACCESS”, students will be enrolled into various schools and prepare for the exam. They will be provided the best classes and lectures, and will also be provided practice exams.
TestDaF
The TestDaF is the German language test provided by language learning centers all around the world. The TestDaF is split into 4 sections
*Reading
*Listening
*Writing
*Speaking
All 4 of these sections will be taught in-depth at the Carl Duisberg Center.
College Entrance Exams
If your chosen university requires a separate college entrance exam, you must also prepare for this as well. Through our guidance and enrollment service “ACCESS”, we will take responsibility of all other prerequisites required by the university. Therefore, students will be able to focus on their examination. They will be provided the best classes and lectures. The Carl Duisberg Centrum also provides practice entrance exams for universities located in Bayern as well.

All other booking changes are possible up to 2 weeks before the course begins for a processing fee of €50.
Right to cancellation
For cancellations up to 31 days before the course starts, a processing fee of €150 will be charged. For cancellations up to 15 days before the course starts,the cancellation fee is 30% of the total course fee (including the costs for accommodation and other services) or €150, whichever is greater. The Carl Duisberg Training Center Radolfzell has two guesthouses with 4 residential units of 4 or 6 rooms each (non-smokers). The guesthouses which were renovated in 2006 or 2008 are located on the edge ofRadolfzell but the city center can be easily reached within approximately 10minutes by bus. International language course students, German interns andtrainees, live together under a single roof, providing a good mixture ofindependence and shared responsibility. The single rooms arefunctionally and practically furnished. Each residential unit has sharedbathrooms (shower, toilet facilities) and a well equipped shared kitchen.Bedding, dishes, pots and pans, and cutlery are provided.

The Carl Duisberg residence in Radolfzell has 40 modest rooms. Bathrooms, kitchens and lounges are shared with other residents. The residential units consisting of 4 or 6 rooms are located on the outskirts of Radolfzell in a quiet location close to public transport. Language course participants, university students and staff share an international environment where there is a balance of independent living and and communal responsibility.

Surrounding Area
The Carl Duisberg Training Center Radolfzell is situated directly at the town gardens with a view of the historic district. This peaceful building was built in 1903 and within its walls students can very quickly feel at ease and find friends from all over the world. This small, very personal school has eight classrooms, a small cafeteria, a computer room and a basement party room. Many participants stay in small groups in the guest house suitable for students. As an alternative, the school can offer stays with specially selected host families who will make students feel part of their family in their homes (often with a garden) in the town itself or in the surrounding villages. Especially young participants are given optimal advice and care in the training center in Radolfzell.
The City and Its Surroundings
Radolfzell is located in southern Germany right on the banks of Lake Constance in a splendid vacation landscape just a few miles from the border with Switzerland. The lake offers wonderful opportunities for swimming and sailing, boating and all kinds of water sports. Take a bike tour of the Black Forest, or travel by ship to neighboring Switzerland or to Austria.
In the medieval city center, the foreign visitor will find a host of opportunities to try out his or her newly acquired vocabulary in a chat at the market square or in one or the typical wine taverns in the evening.
About 10 miles away from Radolfzell, you will find traces of the great German author Hermann Hesse and of renowned artist Otto Dix. Pay a visit to the Hermann Hesse Museum in Gaienhofen or the Otto Dix Museum in Hemmenhofen.
Just on the other side of the Swiss border, some 15 miles from Radolfzell, lies Stein am Rhein, a picturesque small town with a medieval cityscape. And a few miles further, you will find Europe’s largest waterfalls in Schaffhausen. Whether you are a skier or snowboarder, you will find yourself in about two hours in the winter sports centers in Austria and Switzerland, where there’s guaranteed to be snow.

The Carl Duisberg Training Center has 8 classrooms, a Media Resource Center and Wi-Fi Connection. The school is especially ideal for younger participants.

The Cultural and Leisure Activities Program
Radolfzell is located right on the banks of Lake Constance and close to the border with Switzerland. With its wealth of leisure facilities, the Lake Constance area ranks among the most beautiful vacation regions in Germany.
A weekend train ride to Zurich, Stuttgart, Munich or Freiburg is a snap – and offers a taste of larger city life.
The Europa-Park in Rust is also easy to reach. Sports activities such as sailing and windsurfing, hiking and cycling, tennis or golf: the selection is immense and inviting.
For winter sports enthusiasts, the ski areas in Switzerland and Austria are just a short distance away, as are ski areas in the Black Forest.
In the Training Center Radolfzell, there are tutors on hand to assist the participants and who organize leisure activities as well, such as excursions, evening welcome programs, video evenings, discussion roundtables and parties.

The best way to learn a foreign language is to use it in daily life. Carl Duisberg Centren offers students a wide range of ways to get to know their host country and to apply the German that they have learned. With the leisure time offers they will meet with the other participants from the school in the evening and on the weekend. Students will learn all about the sights and the culture of their chosen location. Together with their German teachers and the other members of their course, they can use what they have learned in class in real life. Students will be astonished to see how quickly they will be able to make themselves understood in German.
