Accommodation
Living with Germans
The school is personally in touch with their guest families, and always view the accommodation to make sure it meets the expectations. There are different kinds of families that the school co-operates with: couples with children, couples without children, single working people or pensioners interested in intercultural exchange. Language students have their own private room, which is fully furnished. The bathroom and the kitchen are usually shared with other members of the guest family. Students can prepare their own meals – in some families, meals are prepared by your hosts if requested. Pick-up from the airport or the train station can be arranged.
The CASA flat share
For all those who like to live their own lives without depending on a guest family, the school can arrange a room in the CASA flat share. The five-bedroom flat is situated on the third floor of the CASA building, just above the language school. The rooms are bright and spacious (14 to 18m²), there’s a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a washing machine and there’s an additional toilet. In all rooms, there’s free internet access via WLAN. Two of the rooms (one of them with a balcony) could be used as double rooms. As a courtesy to non-smokers, smoking is not permitted within the entire flat. Flat shares are very common in Germany, especially among students. In order to get along well with your flatmates, it’s important to be open and respectful towards everybody. In the CASA flat share, where there’s a mix of people from all over the world, it’s crucial to be aware of intercultural differences.
Surrounding Area
Bremen is a beautiful green city in Northern Germany. The historic town centre has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site, there are lively bars and atmospheric little cafés which make you want to linger. Within the city’s surroundings, you’ll find lush parks and lovely lakes where you can swim in summer. The people of Bremen are open-minded and they love having a good time. And they speak standard German with hardly a trace of an accent! Although Bremen is one of Germany’s larger cities, its pleasant, relaxed atmosphere makes people feel at home and find new friends quickly. Werder Bremen and the Weserstadion, the Bremen Town Musicians, the Bürgerpark, the Musical Theatre, the Universum and the German Emigration Centre in Bremerhaven are only a few of the sights that await you. And what’s more, Bremen is ideally situated for a trip to the North Sea Islands, to Hamburg, Lübeck or Lüneburg. And there’s Denmark and the Netherlands, great destinations for a weekend trip.
