Our courses are structured communicationally and our teaching style is based on a mix of modern language teaching and learning methods, always including up-to-date materials and various media. This way we can guarantee interesting and varied classes. Since we work in small groups, we are able to attend to our students’ needs and interests quite flexibly. It is our aim to create lively and versatile lessons together with you – because this is the only way that language learning is really fun!  Our experienced teachers are native speakers with a university diploma and relevant additional qualification in the field of teaching their language.  Our Intensive German Courses with 20 lessons per week We offer Intensive German Courses for all levels all year round. Classes are held from Monday to Friday, from 9.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. or in the afternoon from 2.15 p.m. to 5.45 p.m. (however, due to current Corona regulations, lesson times may vary by up to 30 minutes). Working in small groups of 5 - 10 students, we guarantee quick success and the improvement of your German language skills in a relaxed and communicative atmosphere. We make sure that the groups are homogeneous and that the participants are at the right level after a thorough written and oral assessment. This can be a family, a couple, a single person, working or studying, younger or older. This gives you the opportunity to really get to know Cologne life and our city while improving your German. Of course, the kitchen and the bathroom can also be used in the apartment, usually also the washing machine. WLAN, bed linen and towels are also available. Prices depend on location and condition of the apartment, as well as offer, size and equipment. In some accommodations you can also book meals (breakfast 60,- € / with half board 140,- € per week additionally). Our shared rooms are usually located near the school, max. 45 minutes from the school by public transport. Of course we try to accommodate our students as close to the school as possible. Sometimes it can be difficult to find suitable accommodation at short notice. We therefore recommend that you book your accommodation well in advance. We always try to take special requests into account, but we recommend that you are open to new ideas and willing to compromise. For those who prefer to live together with other tandem students, we can offer a room or a small apartment in our tandem flat on the 3rd floor of the school building, if available. The four bright and quiet single rooms (14 - 17 m2) have a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom with two showers, a toilet and a balcony. The two apartments (18 and 30 m2) are also fully furnished and have a kitchenette as well as their own bathroom. Two washing machines are available in the basement for all residents of the TANDEM-WG ( TANDEM SHARED FLAT). All rooms have free internet access via WLAN. The entire apartment is a non-smoking apartment. Smoking is only allowed on the balcony! In most cases, a key deposit is required which will be refunded after departure.  For all apartments the student should expect a deposit of between 200,- € and 2 month's rent as well as a final cleaning fee.   Surrounding Area Cologne is more than a mere city break: its beautiful environs are ideal for day excursions by car or bike. Located east of Cologne, the natural beauty of “Naturarena Bergisches Land“ that surrounds the towns of Bergisch Gladbach and Gummersbach is well worth a visit. The Bonn area and the fascinating “Siebengebirge” range of mountains adjoin in the south upstream the River Rhine. And southwest of Cologne lies the Rhein-Erft area with appealing castles and attractive leisure facilities.   Activity From July on our cultural program will take place again! Then we will inform you every Monday about the respective cultural program of the week. Among other things, tourist and historical city tours, boat tours on the Rhine, city plays, movies, theater visits, excursions, seminars on current topics, concerts, barbecue parties, etc. can be offered. (travel costs and tickets are not included in the course price). The cultural program takes place once a week. Please sign up on the list in time if you would like to participate in the program. Due to Corona regulations, the number of participants may be limited. For the weekend we are happy to give you tips, but there is usually no organized program.  Location   Getting to the school from the airport Directions by train: The KVB lines 15 and 16 stop at Chlodwigplatz. From there it is 3 minutes to TANDEM by foot. Go into Bonner Straße, then the first right into Zugweg and again the first right into Rolandstraße. Directions by bus: The KVB lines 106, 132, 133 and 142 stop on Bonner Straße (at Chlodwigplatz and Alteburger Wall), line 142 also at Zugweg.
