HIT’s International Student Center (ISC) provides the best value for standard Mandarin Chinese language instruction with competitive tuition, affordable living expenses, and highly qualified experienced teachers in a supportive and comfortable learning environment. HIT’s ISC trains more Chinese language students than anyone else in Heilongjiang. 50 highly qualified and experienced full- and part-time teachers staff HIT’s International Student Center. The International Student Center (ISC) advances Harbin Institute of Technology as a global learning community by serving as a crossroads for students from around the world seeking educational opportunities at HIT. The ISC offers a full range of programs and services to foster student success, global perspectives, intercultural awareness and international good will. The ISC is located at walking street of the University’s first campus in Harbin. With the vibrancy of the city of Harbin and the heritage of the University, students are exposed to an enriching cultural and academic experience. The staffs are available on site to share their knowledge from issues such as visa, Chinese culture and regulations, to tips on how to successfully adapt to Chinese society. ISC also organizes a number of activities –in winter a trip to the and in summer to the zoo, Chinese Cultural Week and so on. While providing visa advising, academic counseling, support services, and student activities, the ISC offers insight to students on how to succeed, adjust, and make the most of their time in Harbin. The ISC is divided into four sections – Admission & Management Section, Degree Programs & Affairs section , Chinese Language Department and General Affairs Section. Every year the ISC provides services to nearly 1600 international students attending the Harbin Institute of Technology from over 80 countries around the world.

Chinese language programs, from elementary through advanced, organized in 9 levels in 3 ranks, are offered to better meet student needs. Courses include both compulsory and optional classes of no more than 15 students which meet for 20 hours each week. Integrated courses include speaking, reading, listening, and writing. There are also courses in Business Chinese, Chinese Grammar, Ancient Chinese, and Chinese Culture. A Certificate of Chinese Language is conferred upon successful completion of the course. HIT’s International Student Center can customize courses for teams of 10 students or more of similar language level at any time.

HIT has two international Student Dormitories, each a modern high building with a convenience store, tailor shop, alundry, study room, small meeting room and 24 hour service desk. Two bedroom suites accommodate 2-4 students and include a kitchen adn shared European styled bathroom with 24-hour hot water and a western toilet and shower. Each bedroom is equipped with two single beds, desks, chairs, lamps and bookshelves. Allsuites are wired for both cable TV and the internet.

The ISC is located at walking street of the University’s first campus in Harbin. With the vibrancy of the city of Harbin and the heritage of the University, students are exposed to an enriching cultural and academic experience.In order to promote culture exchange and enrich students’ learning experience, International Student Center organizes variety of students’ activities. HIT's main campus, nestled within the bustling and vibrant Harbin community, features many leisure and recreational facilites including a library, activity center, gymnasium, tennis courts, basketball courtsm running track, soccer field and ice rink as well as restarutants, cafes and dining halls. You will also find on campus for your convenience a full service supermarket, several banks, a transportation ticket office, photocopy shops, photo shop, bookstore, post office - even an optical shop. In the spring semester: opening ceremony, city tour, visiting art school, spring outgoing, sports meeting, Chinese culture week, etc. In the fall semester: watching Beijing Opera, cook Chinese cuisine, visiting ice and snow world, etc.
