International Students Office About the
The ISO (International Students Office) provides advising, programs, services, and support to all international students of ECNU. Its responsibilities include establishing policies concerning the management of international students and to organize, supervise as well as coordinate the training of management work in school. ISO is composed of three departments: Admission Office, Administration Office, and Scholarship Students Office.Chinese city life is very centralized so if the campus is located within the city or closer to the main sections of the city, the easier it is for transportation. Shanghai has everything anyone can ask for. Shopping streets, sightseeing, museums, and shows. Nightlife tends to end around 3 or 4 in the morning, but there are many pockets of bars/clubs around the city. You just have to pick your destination. Because the city is changing so fast, bars and clubs (as with shops and restaurants too) sometimes apprears and disappears without notice. But the ones that are quite big is most likely going to stay in one place.
East China Normal UniversityAbout the
ECNU is a high level normal university founded in October 1951, based on the former Great China University and Kwang Hua University, incorporated with part of Fudan University and Tongji University etc. ECNU was one of the first 16 universities officially graded as National Key Universities in 1959. This status was reaffirmed in 1978. ECNU was also one of the first 33 higher education institutions authorized, by the State Council in 1986, to establish their graduate schools. In 1996, ECNU passed the prerequisites appraisal and became one of universities sponsored by the major national program “Project 211”. In 2006, the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipality signed into a partnership for co-sponsoring the development of the university, qualifying ECNU as a member of the “Project 985” and facilitating ECNU’s efforts and progress towards a world-renowned high level research university.
The long-term language classes Course are scheduled in the morning with 20 lessons per week in total (lessons are 45 minutes in length). The long-term language classes Course are fit for students who aim to improve their knowledge of Chinese and Chinese language skills. The classes stress equal importance over listening, speaking, reading and writing Chinese in order to lay a solid foundation for students on the basis of practicality.
The course is offered year-round with sessions early Sep, mid Feb. If you would like to take this course, at least your age should be 16. The Program is offered at 4levels of instruction; Elementary I is the most elementary level while Level Advanced is the most advanced. Upon their arrival, are required to take a placement test to help determine the level best-suited to their ability. At the end of the session, students are evaluated for advancement to the next level based upon their academic improvement.
This program assists students at any ability level in developing Chinese language skills, general communication skills, and building confidence when speaking. Instruction focuses on grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening. Each week, academic objectives are planned in advance and discussed with the students.
Outside of the classroom, students have opportunities to participate in free field trips to historical sights every semester and organize rich cultural activities like singing contest, sports matches, and so on.
