First day
On the first day of class, your child will get to know the program staff and their classmates and complete a language assessment.
On the first day of the program, your child will be given a program wristband. This wristband will have the emergency contact number which they can use to reach a staff member at any time. This emergency contact is for their use only. This wristband will also allow them to go into the cafeteria. If it breaks, they can get a new one by either visiting the program office or finding a camp coordinator.
Students should remember that they’ll be in a class with other students from different countries. Some of them might have different points of view from them or different accents. That’s what makes our program special: They’ll have the chance to make friends from all around the world. They should be ready to learn from each other, not just the teacher.
Certificate & Evaluation
Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion. In addition, they will also receive a personalized evaluation from their teacher. To get a certificate of completion, student have to:
• Actively participate in class activities and
discussions.
• Complete all aspects of any assignment(s).
• Go to class on time, every day.
If absences and/or class performance become an issue, we will inform you. Please note that if your child is frequently late to class or misses 3 or more classes, they will be at risk of not receiving their certificate. Missing class without a valid reason will also lose them their activity and free-time privileges.

The Youth International English Program (Youth IEP) offers different courses of study designed to meet the educational goals of a wide variety of youth students. The Youth IEP is a summer camp suitable for students (ages 13 – 18) of all English language ability levels, from beginner to advanced, and provides customized educational, social, and cross-cultural experiences that develop students’ English language ability and sense of belonging to a global community.
GEC offers daily classes led by fully-accredited English language teachers that develop all aspects of students’ English abilities, including speaking, listening, writing, reading, and vocabulary. The aim of the course is to help students improve their confidence, fluency, and grammatical accuracy through a variety of communicative activities, such as collaborative projects, discussions, and presentations. Students are encouraged throughout the course to share their opinions and cultural experiences.
All Youth IEP courses involve reading, writing, listening and speaking. However, General English classes focus on speaking and communicating with others.
GEC is designed for students:

The afternoon Intensive English Course (IEC) is for students seeking extra classroom instruction and practice communicating in English. A key aim of IEC is to promote intercultural communication using topics of general interest to teenagers: students should expect to participate in group projects requiring them to interact and work cooperatively. The IEC also requires more written work than the General morning course, supported by personalized feedback from the teacher: writing projects in past years have included creative writing, blogs, radio scripts and articles for the IEP newsletter.

Please note that this course is highly focused on test preparation and may not be suitable for students who do not intend to take the IELTS test in the near future.
IPC is designed for students:
with an intermediate or advanced level of English
who intend to take the IELTS Academic Test in the near future
who plan to study in an English speaking country and want to prepare for the IELTS
who needs practice in test-taking strategies and develop the skills necessary for success on the IELTS

Camp Counsellors
Our camp counsellors live in the residence with your child and will be there for whatever they need. Our devoted team work all hours, including nighttime, to make sure everyone is safe, happy and getting some sleep! There will always be a minimum of 4 camp counsellors for overnight duty, attending to the students until morning.
In the unlikely event of a medical emergency, they will accompany your child to one of Toronto’s hospitals, many of which are located near the campus. Please include your emergency contact in the registration portal so we have an appropriate contact. We will reach you immediately with any and all information.

These activities are designed to expose your child to Canada’s unique culture and history.
They’re also a fantastic chance to make friends from all over the world.
Each day will have both an afternoon and an evening activity. If your child has afternoon class, they will only attend the evening
activity. Our weekend activities are the best of what we offer, bringing your child to incredible places like Niagara Falls and
Canada’s Wonderland.
All activities are mandatory, but that doesn’t mean your child won’t benefit from some encouragement. Our activities are
designed as a great way to make new friends and engage our camp counsellors. With your help, your child will be more
prepared to participate voluntarily. Do what you can to encourage your child to make the most of their experience with us, and
make sure they know our team is always there for them.
All activities schedules are subject to change. Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, some activities and trips may
be cancelled without prior notice depending on health regulations set forth by the university and the Canadian government.
Attendance of all activities is mandatory. Failure to arrive on time will result in disciplinary action. It is the students’
responsibility to know when and where to be. Counsellors are always available to assist, if needed. Students are responsible for
being respectful to their surroundings (e.g. museum rules, attraction rules, etc.).
Free time& Extended Free Time
Some evenings, students will have the opportunity to visit a variety of nearby stores (snacks, toiletries, and AC
adapters are usually the most popular items to purchase). Students can sign out of the residence at 6:00pm and must return by the start time of the evening activity (usually 7:00pm or 7:30pm). Parents must submit consent for their child to have access to Free Time. Permission forms will be available on your registration portal. Free Time will not be available every day due to early activity start times, and longer weekend excursions. Counsellors will monitor the area around campus and ensure that students have their emergency phone number. Students may only leave the residence if they are with a friend.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
*For Session 1 which starts from July 1, 2023, payment deadline is Sunday May 21, 2023. Full refund not including the non-refundable $500 deposit can be provided if cancellations are made before the payment deadline. A 50% refund can be provided for cancellations made before Sunday June 18, 2023.
*For Session 2 which starts from July 30, 2023, payment deadline is Sunday June 4, 2023. Full refund not including the non-refundable $500 deposit can be provided if cancellations are made before the payment deadline. A 50% refund can be provided for cancellations made before Sunday July 2, 2023.
Once you apply, an invoice for your outstanding balance will be sent to you with your acceptance package. You will have until the Final Payment Deadline to pay your full fees. The $500 program fee deposit will hold your spot in the program until you complete your payments.
If you decide to cancel your registration, please refer to the refund deadlines. The $500 program fee deposit is non-refundable. After the 50% refund deadline, all program fees are non-refundable.
IMPORTANT
Refunds may only be returned to the same method of payment. Credit card payments will be returned to the same credit card number. Please ensure that your credit card can accept refunds.
Wire transfers will also be returned to the same account, and additional documents may be required. A CAD $50 fee will be deducted to cover any bank fees. Please note that wire transfer refunds may take 3 weeks to be processed.
VISA REFUSALS
In a case of a visa refusal, we can provide a full refund (excluding the $500 non-refundable deposit fee) regardless of the deadlines upon receiving a copy of the official visa refusal letter from the Canadian immigration office (IRCC). All refund requests must be submitted by email by September 1, 2023 to be processed.
Accommodation
Residence Rooms
The New College Residence is safe and secure. The outside
doors lock in the evening and can only be accessed by residents
with keys. Keys are also required to access the elevators and
residence floors. Each room has its own lock. Your child will be
responsible for keeping their keys with them at all times. The
University of Toronto and the International Programs are not
responsible for lost or stolen items.
Students will be housed in single or double rooms with shared
bathrooms on each floor. Male and female students will be on
separate floors.
The residence Front Desk is staffed 24 hours a day. They are
available to assist your child whenever necessary.

Room Keys
When you check-in at the New College Residence, you will receive your own room key. This key will give you access not only to your room, but also to the residence building, the elevators, and your floor. Your room door will lock automatically when you close it, so remember to carry it with you at all times!
Computer Access & Wi-Fi
You’ll have access to New College’s Computer Lab, in case you didn’t bring a device of your own. You’ll also have Wi-Fi in the residence. It’s fast, reliable, and just about everywhere—perfect for video-calling your family back home! By using the University of Toronto’s Wi-Fi Network, you agree to abide by the University of Toronto’s rules and guidelines as outlined in the Appropriate Use of Information and Communication Technology.
Bathrooms & Showers
There are several shared bathrooms on each residence floor with private showers. The water used in the bathroom sinks is perfectly clean and safe to drink, so it’s super easy to keep your water bottle filled, too! If you prefer a gender-neutral bathroom for your comfort, please contact our team.
Camp Counsellors
Camp counsellors will be your leaders, mentors, facilitators, coaches, and friends! They live in residence with you and will be there for whatever you need, to take attendance, and to make your experience as amazing as possible. Our devoted team is available during the day and night to make sure that you’re safe, happy, and getting enough sleep.

Toronto summer weather can be unpredictable. From a daytime high of 25-35°C to an evening low of 12-18°C, you’ll need a
range of clothes to be comfortable. We sometimes experience heat waves where the temperature reaches as high as 38-40°C.

Audrey Taylor Dining Hall
The Audrey Taylor Dining Hall is a central place to enjoy all your meals. You can watch as the chefs prepare delicious daily
options like roast chicken, vegetable stir-fry, and many other delicious meals. You can take as much as you want!
If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please make sure your parents/guardians let us know on your registration
portal. While we will do our best to accommodate your dietary restrictions, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be
accommodated. Please email us at summeracademy@utoronto.ca if you have any concerns. Please also tell us yourself when
you arrive!
Your wristband will let you into the dining hall for your meals. If you lose or break your wristband, talk to your coordinator
or the International Programs Office to get a new one.

캐나다의 독특한 문화와 생활 방식을 소개하는 활동에 참여합니다. 학생들이 영어를 향상시키고 전 세계에서 새로운 친구를 사귀면서 토론토를 탐험 할 수있는 다양한 오후 활동, 저녁 행사 및 주말 여행을 제공합니다. 카운슬러로 선발된 캐나다 대학생들이 리더가 되어 주니어 학생들과 액티비티에 참여합니다. 오전 수업에만 등록 된 학생들에게 제공되는 오후 액티비티에는 다양한 스포츠 활동에 참여하고 도시에서 가장 유행하는 지역에서 쇼핑 할 수있는 기회가 혼합 된 역사 및 문화 유적지 방문이 포함됩니다. 오후 액티비티를 하는 학생들은 프로그램 중에 클럽의 일원이 될 것입니다. 저녁 액티비티 는 학생들에게 프로 야구 경기를위한 로저스 센터, 온타리오 미술관, 로얄 온타리오 박물관, 토론토 하버 프론트, 북미에서 가장 높은 독립 구조 인 CN 타워 등 토론토에서 가장 인기있는 곳을 방문 할 수있는 기회를 제공합니다. 학생들은 디스코 볼링, 탤런트 나이트, 온타리오 호수에서 보트 크루즈와 같은 대화 형 행사를 즐길 수 있습니다. 주말 여행 은 학생들이 토론토의 중심 섬, 캐나다의 원더 랜드 – 북미 최고의 유원지 중 하나이며 나이아가라 폭포 기슭에서 잊을 수없는 보트 타기를 통해 편하게 쉴 수있게 해줍니다.
성인영어과정 학생대상
다양한 저녁 행사와 주말 여행을 준비합니다. 토론토의 많은 유명한 미술관과 박물관, 쇼핑지역과 다양한 나이트 라이프에 이르기까지이 다양합니다. 이브닝 이벤트는 세계적 수준의 연극 및 음악 공연에 참석하고, 토론토의 활기찬 지역을 탐험하고, 도시에서 가장 유행이 많은 지역에서 쇼핑하고, 토론토 하버 프론트의 야외 문화 축제를 포함하여 토론토의 가장 인기있는 이벤트를 경험할 수있는 기회를 제공합니다. 로저스 센터와 세계에서 가장 높은 빌딩 인 CN 타워로 향합니다. 주말 여행을 통해 학생들은 토론토의 중심 섬으로 여행하면서 캐나다의 문화와 지리를 편하게 즐길 수 있습니다. 캐나다 최고의 와인 생산 지역 인 아름다운 역사적인 도시 나이아가라 온 더 레이크 방문(나이아가라 폭포 아래에서 잊을 수없는 보트 타기)
프랑스 문화권 가이드 투어에 참여하는 것도 좋습니다. 이 투어는 캐나다의 수도 인 오타와, 몬트리올 및 퀘벡을 방문하여 북미에서 프랑스 문명의 요람을 탐험합니다. 여행하는 동안 학생들은 캐나다 국회 의사당, 바이 워드 마켓, 몬트 로얄, 세인트 조셉의 성사, 몬트리올의 올드 포트, 노트르담 대성당, 올림픽 공원, 샤토 프롱 트낙 및 올드 퀘벡 시티를 경험합니다.

However, high schools’, or universities’ required essay or personal statements help from us is charged. Language study entrance admissions can be obtained in 3~14 days.
