Langara is Canada's premier University Transfer (UT) institution. The University Transfer Program allows students to begin their university studies at a college (2 years) before transferring to a university to complete their degree (2 years).

Students who study through Langara's UT program benefit from smaller classes in their first two years of study, and receive more personal attention from instructors.

BC University Transfer

Within British Columbia, the BC Council on Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT) oversees the BC Transfer System. Our students can see how their courses at Langara will transfer to other post-secondary institutions in the province.

University of Victoria

Queen’s University

Our partnership with Queen’s University is opening more opportunity for Langara students to transfer to universities outside British Columbia. Langara students can complete an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree in Vancouver before transferring directly into third year in one of 17 different Bachelor degree programs at Queens, one of Canada’s leading research institutions.

University of Saskatchewan

Transfer equivalents for course credits and admission to the University of Saskatchewan help students plan their degree progress. Students can complete two years at Langara in Vancouver and complete their degree in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Other International Universities

Students transfer credits from Langara to other post-secondary institutions in North America or around the world. Course transfer credits are reviewed on a case-by-case base. Students should speak with an academic advisor to help with course selection.

Accommodation

Langara does not have student residences. Students who are not living with family or friends in Canada choose to live in homestay or off-campus.

Homestay

Students in homestay live with a Canadian family while studying at Langara.

*Provided with a furnished, private bedroom

*Given three meals per day

*Given use of household appliances (washer, dryer, vacuum cleaner, iron, etc.)

*Welcomed to join in family activities and excursions

*Encouraged to practise English with their families and to learn about Canadian culture

Students who live off-campus are generally renting an apartment, condo, basement suite or room in a shared house. Shared accommodations (roommates) will usually have lower costs as expenses are shared.

Rental accommodation prices range from $500 to over $1,000 per month.

Study Skills Workshops (open to UT and Career program participants only)

Time Management – Learn tips on managing your time for the semester and how to budget time for classes, studying and leisure activities

Stress Management – Learn about the factors that cause stress, and about how you can reduce and manage the stress in your life

Note-Taking – Learn a variety of strategies for taking good notes

Final Exams & Test-taking – Learn how to deal with stress and exam anxiety and well as specific techniques for taking tests

LEAP Study Skills and Success Workshops - Learn special study skills to help you be successful in your LEAP classes.

Clubs are a great way to have fun, meet new people, and get involved in the campus community. Langara is home to over 30 clubs.
