CCEL's partnership with the University of Canterbury (UC) provides students with a direct pathway to university study. CCEL students can join UC's Foundation Studies programme or one of their undergraduate or post graduate degree programmse without taking the IELTS examination. When students enrol at CCEL, they may also apply to UC at the same time. Provided students meet the programme entry requirements UC will issue a conditional offer. Students who do not meet the English language requirements to enter UC can pathway to UC directly through an English for Academic Purposes - Pathway to UC (EAP) course at CCEL. EAP is for students who need to improve their academic English, develop the study skills required to succeed in tertiary study and gain the English language entry requirements to study at UC. Students who successfully complete an EAP course at CCEL (and meet UC's academic entry requirements) can transfer to one of UC's pre degree, undergraduate degree or post graduate degree programmes without taking IELTS.
