Establishment of 1990, OISE distinguishes itself by being the only language training organisation to specialise exclusively in the provision of intensive courses. All participants are immersed in anenvironment conducive to serious, concentrated study. OISE students share the same aims andthe same commitment to learning. Furthermore, since OISE only teaches a language in thecountry where it is spoken, the participant is obliged to speak, listen to, read and write thelanguage all day long. This powerful combination of structured learning within the school andspontaneous language acquisition outside ensures that the participant achieves his or her language learning ambition. The Oxford Intensive School of English provides intensive language teaching which is both demanding of the participant and fulfilling in its results. Our teaching philosophy is the strong belief that clear aims and hard work yield the best results. At OISE Oxford, we specialise in helping ambitious learners to improve their English as much as possible in a short time. Our students come from many different countries and backgrounds, but they all share a common aim: to work hard on their English and become much more confident when using it in real life. Building our students’ confidence in using English is the most important thing we do. Our teachers understand that each student is different, and that everyone has different reasons for learning English. Each student’s course is built around their individual needs, and every lesson has a clear aim to help the student to progress. Students work together with carefully selected tutors, who guide their development in the areas which are important to them.
Curriculum : To choose the Quatorial programme is to favour a dynamic approach to perfecting language performance in speaking and writing situations. This programme is practice based using quasi authentic situations. A variety of sessions of different types are designed not only to help develop language accuracy but also to allow the participant to overcome inhibitions and to use the language eloquently in all situations. The overall aim is to turn the participant into an articulate English speaker and presenter.
A programme that embraces fully the varying dynamics and approaches required to master the different aspects of language fluency: plenary sessions involving everyone, mini-groups of maximum 4 participants, workshop sessions for specific performance related aims and optional tutorial tuition (1 participant per tutor).
It includes: Quatorial Lessons: controlled practice in language structures and lexis development with constant support and feedback to achieve a good command of: grammar structures, idioms, vocabulary and expressions drills to sharpen understanding of written text through reading exercises based on a wide range of materials: reports, articles, studies coaching and practice in writing letters, reports, emails, presentations, articles formal listening exercises. Quatorial Project: team project work requiring research on the internet, books, magazines, and newspapers it also gives real-life practice in formal writing and presenting. Spoken Performance Workshop: this is a fluency skills session to help the learner overcome inhibitions and group communication anxieties. Feedback focuses on performance rather than accuracy. Individual attention: each Quatorial programme includes one hour of Masterclass (teacher guided study). Participants can choose to replace this with 1 or 2 hours of Tutorial lessons which is time with a private tutor to work on individual language needs or specialised professional requirements
Option: exam revision Students wishing to take an official exam are exposed to exam requirements with active practice on past papers under timed conditions to foster familiarity with the exam.

Homestay To maximise the opportunities for speaking the language, OISE has a policy of never allowing two students of the same mother tongue to stay in any one host family. All students have a single room. Each host family is selected and monitored according to strict criteria laid down by OISE. Houses must be comfortable, the hosts welcoming and, above all, genuinely interested in receiving students and helping them to develop fluency in the language.
College This option is ideal for those requiring more independence and who wish to experience the unique atmosphere of college life. Some colleges are historic buildings set in beautiful grounds which offer students a peaceful environment conducive to study and relaxation. Some are modern premises offering city centre locations and practical convenience. If you wish to stay in college (July and August only) please add the supplements listed below to the course price
