The Mission of International Programs (IP), a department of University Extension of UC Irvine, is to offer life-enriching academic, professional, and cultural experiences to international audiences in environments specifically tailored to their needs. Experiences include superior English-language and professional-content instruction, comprehensive preparation for successful undergraduate and graduate studies, and a wide variety of support services, including housing and organized cultural activities, to foster international students’ adjustment to and competence in participating in American life. IP's accreditation member, AAIEP promotes and supports ethical and professional standards for intensive English programs in the U.S. since 1986. Fully-accredited program prepares you to understand and use English in a variety of academic, professional, and personal situations. UC Irvine is a public research university and fifth largest UC campus. In a safe and beautiful town of Irvine in Southern California, students can enjoy life outside of class by visiting numerous area attractions near Los Angeles and San Diego.

UC Irvine is a public research university located in Irvine, California. UCI is the fifth largest UC campus, with over 28,000 students, 1,100 faculty members and 9,000 staff. UCI was one of three new UC campuses established in the 1960s to accommodate growing enrollments across the UC system. UC Irvine offers 80 undergraduate degrees and 98 graduate and professional degrees. The university is designated as having very high research activity in the Carnegie Classification of Institutes of Higher Education, and in 2009 had $325.49 million in research and development expenditures according to the National Science Foundation. The university also administers the UC Irvine Medical Center, a large teaching hospital; the UC Irvine Health Sciences system in the City of Orange; the UCI Arboretum; and a portion of the University of California Natural Reserve system. Irvine has a noteworthy sports sectors. The UC Irvine Anteaters compete in 18 men's and women's sports in the NCAA division. Since 1969, the university has won 28 national team championships in nine different sports and has had 63 individual national champions. UCI's history as part of a preplanned suburban community, combined with the tendency for some students to go home on the weekends, gives Irvine a reputation as a quieter college town or a commuter school. However, there are a number of opportunities for vibrant and exciting social outings, as long as students take the initiative and have access to an automobile. In fact, most of the students live on or around campus. There are also many storied traditions at UCI, which have helped the young university develop a strong sense of campus spirit and personality.
