Option1) Homestays in the area Room Type: Singles Meals: 14 meals per week Min Age: 16 Key/Damage: None Description: Homestay is a great way to jumpstart your cultural and language experience! Hosts and students develop close relationships, that often last a lifetime. The average commute time is currently 30-40 minutes. The Center's homestays are conveniently located close to Big Blue Bus stations or the Expo Line, so students have the freedom to travel at their own pace. Almost all new homestay families are less than 40 minutes by public transportation. A few families live right in Santa Monica so students can walk to school. Home types vary, but in general, ELS host families live in safe neighborhoods in the West Los Angeles area including Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Westwood, Brentwood, Culver City, and Playa Vista. ELS students will be assigned single rooms, and some with shared bathrooms. All homes have wireless internet. ELS students will have access to kitchen and laundry areas in the home. Option2)Student Residence (off campus) Location: Shared Apartments at Barrington Plaza 11740 Wilshire Blvd.Los Angeles, CA 90025 Room Type: Doubles, Doubles Deluxe, Singles Meals: Not included, but students may cook in the communal and well-equipped kitchen, or eat at the nearby restaurants that are within walking distance of Barrington Plaza. Min Age: 18 Key/Damage: $300 upon check in and returnable when student checks out if there is no damage to the unit. Description: The shared apartments at Barrington Plaza include: •Shared (double) bedrooms in a fully furnished two bedroom two bathroom apartment •Located in a safe neighborhood within a 5 minute walk to nearby shops and restaurants •24/7 building security and front desk service •The "Big Blue Bus" takes students to ELS and anywhere in Santa Monica or Los Angeles •Includes utilities, high speed internet, air-conditioning, heater, cable television and a bi-weekly cleaning service •The units include shared dining room and fully equipped kitchens, large outdoor patio, tennis courts, laundry facilities, state-of-the-art fitness center and a heated Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Option3) International House 1304 Princeton St. #B Santa Monica, CA 90404 Room Type: Doubles, Singles Meals: Meals are not included, but students may cook in the communal and well-equipped kitchen, or eat at the nearby restaurants that are within walking distance of International House. Min Age: 18 Key/Damage: $350 upon check in and returnable when student checks out if there is no damage to the room. Description: The apartments at the International House include: •Shared (double and single) bedrooms in a large house in an attractive and safe neighborhood •Live-in Resident Advisor with 24/7 student assistance.
